Obligations of Noyce Scholars:

To apply for the Noyce Scholars Program you must:

  1. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
  2. Second year or higher undergraduate status with at least three semesters of coursework in science or mathematics completed at Pima Community College or the University of Arizona.
  3. Have a current cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and a major GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  4. A desire to become a teacher of science or mathematics in a middle or high school classified by the NSF as a high-needs school.
  5. Evidence of potential for success as a teacher from reference letters.
  6. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  7. Complete and submit a current online (preferably) FAFSA.
  8. Complete and submit the online Noyce Scholars Application form, including a one-page personal statement that describes the following:
  1. Solicit and send via mail a minimum of two letters of recommendation from instructors, professors, or teachers that you have had in college (see link for Information for References).
  2. Send via mail a copy of an unofficial transcript from each college that you have attended.


Preferred Qualifications (not required)

  1. Member of an underrepresented cultural group in science and mathematics.
  2. Financial need.
